Organic fair trade coffee

Today i'd like to talk about a touchy subject for most, fair trade and what it means for distributors.

Fair Trade coffee
Fair trade cycle
While this may be good for the environment and economy stability, is this really where we want to be heading with all this monopolization?

Fair trade coffee, is it really fair? Currently there are over 108 large scale Fair trade coffee distributors combined they produce almost 13 tons of green coffee beans annually. This means that smaller market coffee distributors must acquire a fair trade license to produce certified coffee according to fair trade Organizations to create and seek partner ships. All of which provides the smaller US coffee distributors with a fairly difficult task of being licensed.

To reiterate this is no simple step, while most people will not shop for un-certified coffee online, however Several certified retailers include, Amazon, Google are some of the largest retailers of coffee.

What do you guys think this means for the smaller mom and pop shops of the coffee world? Drop a comment in the box below or head over to my 100% organic fair trade coffee website!
